Après la séparation de Blink-182, Mark Hoppus (Bass) et Travis Barker (Drums), ont décidé pendant leurs derniers instants de tournée de Blink de créer le groupe (+44), (en référence à l'indice téléphonique que l'on doit composer pour téléphoner en UK)

Après de longs mois d'attentes d'informations officiel du groupe, des rumreus se font sur l'appartion d'une nouvelle membre, il s'agit de Carol Heller, ex-guitariste et chanteuse du groupe Get The Girl. Mais elle ne ferra pas vraiment partie de Plus-44, le temps de sortir leur premier titre « No It Isn't » et de participer à un duo avec Mark, figurant sur l'album,« Make You Smile », on n'eut plus aucune nouvelle d'elle.

C'est alors qu'on apprend enfin une nouvelle officiel du groupe, qu'un nouveau guitariste fera dont de sa présence, c'est Shane Gallagher, guitariste et ex-The Nervous Retourn. Ainsi suivis un mois plus tard de Craig Fairbaugh, guitariste du groupe Mercy Killers, qui prendra sa place de guitariste et backs vocals.

Voilà le groupe au complet, ils commencèrent par une mini tournée pour la promotion de leur premier album sortira le moi suivant, le 14 novembre 2006, en 3 exemplaires différents (bleu, rose et vert). Pour la suite le groupe a continuer avec une tournée mondiale.

Angels & Airwaves [ Ava ] est un groupe californien d'Aéro-Rock créé en juin 2005 par le guitariste de Blink-182, Tom Delonge. Leur premier CD, We Don't Need To Whisper est sorti le 23 Mai 2006, c'est tom qui a ecrit l'album.
I-EMPIRE est le prochain album qui devait sortir le 23 octobre 2007, mais a été décalé pour le 6 novembre 2007.

Tom DeLonge, chanteur et leader du groupe, a donné les initiales AvA au groupe car sa fille s'appelle Ava DeLonge. Il existe déjà 5 clips, The Adventure, It Hurts, Do It For Me Now, The War et Everything's Magic Le groupe affirme vouloir changer la vision traditionnelle du rock qu'a le grand public pour se tourner vers un rock plus futuriste. Après le tournage de leurs shorts films (visible sur leur site officiel) le groupe désire sortir un long métrage qui dénoncerait les actes militaires, guerres, et autres problèmes humanitaires.
